January 13th

It's cold, Bloody freezing almost. Temparature has been dropping to

under 10 degrees at night.
Even the Farangs are walking around

in thick woolies and coats. It seems to be only Isaan though, rest of

Thailand
appears to be normal for this time of year.

Anyway, a Happy New Year to all our readers, whever you are.

A welcome back to Surin for Terry from Brighton, on his yearly

visit, seen here with daughter and cats

and Yorky, or at least half of him.

And now for the goods news. Out of the blue, we got our licence

to sell drinks back, but we will keep the F.C. 2 running. Have to

really, we are baking nearly every day, sending bread to all four

corners of the globe, well all four corners of the bus station anyhow.

And then of course, G.P. season soon. Then Elephant show. then

Xmas, well you know how it is.

Talking of that, the yearly Elephant round-up 2009, will be held on

the weekend of the 13th, 14th & 15th November.

 ( See Elephant show section)

I'm not going to say anything about football this time either, except

for  #@%&^!#@$*&

So see you all sometime, rather sooner than later

December 28th
Well, it came and went. Christmas that is. We had a good turn out

at the F.C., around 80/90 people. The only thing that spoilt it was the

Thai town council, with all their great wisdom, had a free film show

right outside the pub from 18.00, so everybody packed up and left.

Too bloody loud. Everyone enjoyed their dinner anyway. Here are a

few pictures

So that's it for another year. We are not having a big do on New Years Eve, just a small party to see 2009 in and of course yorkies 60th year
So till next time

some more good news

November 18th

Said I'd see you next week. How many believed me?

Well, It's here. The Elephant festival that is. This year is going to

surpass all years. I have booked 80 hotel rooms for nearly 150

guests ( hope they don't all try and have dinner at once!)

We are putting a special menu on, with just 14 of  our top meals

on it. Please note ONLY what's on the menu will be served. This

should cut the waiting time down to about five hours. Also,

breakfast will be served between 07.00 and 12.00 ( 05.00-12.00

Thurs,Fri & Sat) after which the dinner menu starts.

Our efforts this year have not gone unnoticed by the powers to

be, and The Farang Connection has been invited to join the ranks

of the Surin Tourist Promotion Association, a board made up from

the top hotels and travel agents in Surin. We are official at last.

Well folks that's it again. I can't do much more with the cat on

the keyboard anyway.

Bye till after ther show.

See you'all next week with pics.

November 3rd

Well, he did it. Lewis I mean.

Thanks in the end to Timo Glock.

Jeeermans, don't you just love 'em? All I've got to say to Massa,

after that move in China is " Som Num Na".

A few shocks in the Premiership as well this weekend. Arsenal can't win

against the bottom teams. Robihno, has finally realised he went to the

wrong half of Manchester. How Fergie would have loved to put HIM in

the reserves. Chelsea march on. Middlesboro 5-0, Sunderland 5-0, poor

old Newcastle are pooping their pants after what they've done to other

teams from that area.

Well, November's here again. Soon the town will be filled once

more with fat, overweight, loud, animals with trunks, scattering

litter everywhere and peeing and pooping in the street.

Elephants will be here soon as well.

Don't forget if you are heading for Thailand soon, ALL bars will be

closed 14th/15th of this month as a mark of respect to the Thai

Royal Family

I guess I'll be saying hello to a lot of you once more in the near

future, but until then it's goodbye from me

October 27th

Good morning once more from the murky depths of Isaan. And a wonderful welcome to all my regular viewers. I'm in a great mood this morning despite getting turned over by Liverpool last night.

Must have slept well.

Quite quiet lately now, but it all kicks off soon. Then we'll have plenty to do.

Will be taking names for the usual Xmas dinner soon, so drop me a line if you're coming. Same fare as last year, whatever that was. We're limiting to 100 this year, so book early to avoid disappointment. ( I've never turned anyone away though).

Despite all the rumours that are going around, the Elephant Festival

HAS NOT BEEN CANCELLED

this year. My guess is that the Thais have finally heard that it has been put back a week, and started spreading rumours. Just to put you in the picture for the 28,000 time, it is now being held on weekend

21st, 22nd & 23rd of November.

OK then, for another week or so from me

And the missus

And a happy halloween to all of you.

October 20th

Oh what a beautiful Monday morning. Here I am at 06.00, typing
away merrily, bringing all of you lot out there the latest news
from good old Surin.

It was Surin bike weekend this week, although it wasn't a great
turnout. Those that did come enjoyed themselves though with
Carabou playing at the festival

Some big bikes at the FC

And some small ones

I wasn't going to miss out though

Nor was Lek (the cat)

And then they were gone!

Till the next bike meet in Isaan.

So, there you have it for another week, or two or three.

October 14th

Sorry about the news updates, but really nothing untoward has
been happening lately. Business is down all over tourist Thailand,
yet up in Surin, and probably the other provinces as well, it's steady.

Any of you worrying about the troubles in Bangkok, forget it. Just a
minor skirmish. See more violence between West Ham and
Chelsea. Doesn't stop people coming to England.

The yearly Elephant round-up is almost upon us, and still some
web-sites are showing the wrong dates. When will they learn. It
will be interesting to see just how many people turn up a week
early, to be confronted with no festival, and all places of
entertainment closed. Such is life. I've done my best.

Bookings for Christmas dinner will commence soon. Same menu
as last year, although numbers were down. We are looking for
around 100 guests this year. As usual first come first served.

So I will end this news broadcast on a happy note.

A lot of you punters out there were worried about the future of
the Farang Connection, what with the break-up of our marriage
and loss of licence. Well I can report that after a year of running
it as a partnership, things are as good as ever. Now Nee has two
people to slap so I only get half the bruises now.

September 29th

Not opening till 11.00 today.Got time to update. We have been
soooooo busy lately, haven't had much time to get on coms.

Rain let up last week, until last night, then the heavens opened again.
Biggest problem at the mo is, when it's not raining, it's so hot and
muggy.

Well, the surveyors have been to look at building a road behind
us, so we are looking to get our licence back next year. We must
just hope another unit comes available one side of us. Need the
space.

Another 6/7 weeks to the Elephant show, and people have
started to book at last. Good thing really they left it till late this
year, what with the date changes. Still I am expecting a lot of
people to arrive too early for the festival. Numerous web-sites
(Mostly Thai) are still showing the dates as 14th, 15th & 16th
November. I have tried to get changes, in fact it was me that
finally got T.A.T. (Tourist Authority of Thailand) to change their
web-site dates. And that took Nee & myself two weeks of phone
calls.

So, love y'alllllllllll & Byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

September 16th

Rain, rain & more rain!

All night, most of the day. Three weeks now. Last Tuesday it rained 21 hours non-stop. We've had more rain here this year than the past five years put together. And when it's not raining, it's hot and humid.
I suppose it is the rainy season though. What would you expect?

Visitors are down this year of course. Unrest in Bangkok, closing of bars every time there's a bloody election, rising Baht, falling World currencies. Again, what would you expect? It's still wonderful in good old Surin though.

Speed 3 has been knocked down and re-built. Smashing place now. Tawan Daeng still beats on. It looks like we may have our licence back soon, so it could be bye bye to the FC2 in March. Not that it's doing bad, quite well in fact, but ex-Mrs Fat-Git wants all her eggs in one basket. And she's still the boss.

So it's goodbye from her and goodbye from me. Speak to you soon

BBBBBBYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

September 9th

Hello again from all in wet Surin, to all you out there in the wilds of
no-where. Not a great deal to report. Very q1uiet on the visitors
front actually. We did have our annual Thai Visa get together and
anniversary party last week end though. The Farang Connection
has been in Surin 10 years now, and we've had it for almost six of
them.

Here's some photo's

Ivan the Terrible

And the rest of the crew

Not forgetting their lovely ladies

And tony stuck in the background.

A good time was had by all. Plenty of sore heads the next day.

Weeeellllllllllllllllll time to sign off now.

See some of you soon.

Love from ME

August 20th

Hi there folks.............gotta start afresh on the news front.
Couldn't get on the other to write anew.

Elephant Festival News: Majestic is fully booked now, but
I still have rooms at the Maneroote (2) and the Sang
Thong (2). Cost is Bht 1,700 & 1,000 respectively for festival
days. 750 & 450 other days. VIP tickets to the show will
cost you 550 this year booked through me. For the second
year on the trot I had tickets left over from people who
booked, so I lost money.

Footie round up: Awesome display by the boys in blue,
less than average start from the girls in red. Can't see anyone
stopping Chelsea this year. Specially if they get Robihno.

Thai Visa/10th year anniversary party on 6th September, all
welcome. For more info see

http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/isaanforum

Well another month nearly over. Business has dropped a bit this
week after a record five weeks. Lotta punters gone 'ome.
Still maybe see some of yer soon. To the ones I don't see 'Good luck'
