postheadericon weekly news

August 12th

Hi there punters. I'm back again. We've been very busy lately, so, no news.

At last the football season is back with us, with Chelsea ending up as Champs.

Whoops, bit soon I suppose. Man U lifted the Charity Shield again. On penalties

.........again. They never could win fair and square.

Thaksin has escaped to England. Makes a change, most villains flee England

and go to Thailand. Still now he's a foreign criminal, he qualifies for a free

mansion of his choice, and I suppose as his assets are frozen in Thailand, he will

be able to claim 5,000 pounds a week social.

We had a lovely girl in here not long ago, married to an Englishman, but her

application for a visa was refused, because they thought she might stay in the

country. England doesn't want honest, hard working people without a criminal

record. I did tell her to apply for Serbo/Croat nationality, declare herself destitute,

on drugs and was on the run from the police in her own country, then

immigration would let her in. (although the Serbo/Croat piece is not

necessary, apparantly Thailand works as well)

Still, life goes on,

It does not stop,

From city bank,

To country shop,

From those below,

To those on top,

Or is life an illusion?

Cheers folks.

July 24th

Hi folks, I haven't forgotten you, just been a bit busier than usual for July and

it slipped my mind. Jokes are coming thick and fast though. If anyone has heard

any crackers lately, just e-mail me on This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and if I

like them, I'll publish them. If I don't, I'll put them on Thaivisa.

Majestic is pretty much fully booked for the Elephant Festival this year, although

Sang Thong and Maneroote are still available. Krisada Palace is a good bet too.

Nice new Apartment Hotel, right in the thick of the Elephant breakfast and

parade.

At last, the Farang Connection has got a good write up in this year's Lonely

Planet, in fact Surin has done pretty well too. "A small town with a

surprisingly wild nightlife," it says.

As a customer recently said to me " This town is dead, nothing happens after

ten o'clock at night"

I, of course replied "No, nothing happens before ten o'clock!"

With that, I'll leave all you lads, lasses, youngsters, oldtimers, pissheads,

abstainers, freaks, fatties, thinnies and Geordie John.

BBBBBBBBBYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEE

Latest news flash 11/07/08

Sombat tours have now cancelled the 10.30am bus to Surin. Apparantly the day

they put it on it was only half full.

Stop Press

Canadian Mike is back in town, and wanted to remind Geordie John how nice

Surin is (I nearly put that in the joke of the week section)

June 23rd

June 15th

Another party, another binge. Wonderful crowd of guests came up from Pattaya,

Buriram, Sisaket and places inbetween. Not many from Surin though.

I guess the fact that we did not put "FREE BEER & FOOD" on the invitation,

kept them away. Here's some pics anyway.

So there you are. No more free p/u's for a while now, although we have our

10 year anniversary of the Farang Connection soon.

Nothing much to report this month though (or week),

so here's looking at yer baby.

BBBBBBBBBBYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEE

News flash 7th June

As from today the F.C. will be offering free WiFi access for all our customers.

We can only allow one customer at a time though as our toilet is very small.

Cheers.

June 4th

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Another week in paradise. Still hot, warm, wet, dry, windy, still.

I only got 2 responses to my plea for e-mails a couple of weeks ago,so I guess

there is something wrong with my system. And I don't know what to do about it.

If anyone has sent mail to me and I haven't replied please text me on .....................

cheers. I might have to set up an alternate address.

Not a lot happening around town, everywhere's quiet, although we do seem

to be going through a spell where one day we are packed out,and the next

couple of days hardly any customers at all. Still swings and roundabouts as they say.

Well that's it for another week. See yersall next week.

BBBBBBBYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

News flash 29th May

Due to a lack of interest this year, I have returned 40 of the 50 rooms I reserved

at the Majestic hotel for the Elephant round up. Anyone still interested, I still have

5 rooms free.

Note: People can still book through me, in the Majestic or Sang Thong Hotels

if there are rooms available.

May 27th

Time to start counting. I'm now 60 years and 8 days old.

Not much to report this week. Weathers unsettled. One day boiling hot, one day

fairly cool, one day dry, next, peeing it down. Actually I think we've had more rain

in May than we had the whole of last year. A lot of the local lads are back home

now, or anyway out of Surin, so it's very quite at local o'clock in the afternoon.

Still, one thing I'm happy to say is that trade is on the up. The last week we have

been really busy nearly every day. In fact yesterday we were pretty well full from

08.00 till we closed at 18.00.

Talking of that, the new summer opening times until October

Farang Connection One

Monday 08.00-18.00

Tues-Sun 08.00-20.00 (later if we are busy)

Farang Connection Two

Mon-Sun  12.00-18.00

Pub will be open later on request for sporting events, parties, general booze ups etc.

Well guess that's it for another week.

BBBBBBBBYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEE

May 19th

****** That's it.......I'm bloody sixty. That flew by. ******

What did I say about the hot weather stopping ................. PHEEWWWW.

It's back with a vengance (in between downpours)

May 15th

Still peeing it down every day, and a lot cooler. That's it for another year,

furnace wise. Not too bad at all this time round.

Important news just in ( or at least a month ago) Sombat tours now run a

morning bus service to BKK. Leaves at 10.00 mornings and arrives at around

17.00 evenings.

Good news for the people that love their service but hate their times.

The original 21.30 still goes both ways.

Oh and of course there is now a bus that leaves Moo Chit at 10.00 mornings

as well.

No photo's this week due to the fact that I'm a lazy fat git, but I'm sure we'll sort

something out soon.

Another bit of interesting news is that in four days time I WILL BE

BLOODY SIXTY.

Almost made it now. Cheers and

BYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

6th May

Well it's raining and cooler, although the expected cyclone that was due to hit us

never materialised. Good job. Apparantly 20 people were killed in Burma by it,

which was altered to 3,500 after they counted the bodies.

Easy enough mistake I suppose.

Lucky for these people as well from  "The Challange Bike Ride";  Bangkok

to Ankgor Wat. 30 intrepid souls pedalling their way through Thailand and Cambodia,

to raise money for

" The Myton Hospis for the

Termanally ill"  In Warwick and Rugby.

Good luck to Terry,Alan, Peter, Mick,
Triggs,JJ, Wendy, Charlie, David (G)
Liz, Graham,Macom, Jim,Lon,Neil,Digby,Richard, Fiona, Jauqui,
David(P), John (Y)
and Pam.
And to anyone I left off the list
Anyone wishing to donate for such a fine cause can send donations directly.

And last but not least
BBBBBYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Another couple of bits and pieces this week;
Firstly it's seems that the decision to take our licence away, was in no way
down to us. They  just wanted to get shot of the large Disco/Girlie Bar/All night
Drinkery next door to us, and unfortunately we had to go too. That explains
why, he moved without a whimper, and we were not checked up on so much.
One last thing, please, can anyone reading this send me an E-mail through
the Web channel. It does seem that I am not getting all my mails through,
and this would be ag reat help to me, in finding out where I am losing mails from.
Cheers in advance. Of course it could be people just saying " Well I did E-mail
you and you didn't reply"
Anyway TATA for now

News April 24th

Right, finally got shot of who I was feeling, so lets

get down to the nitty-gritty.

Geordie John, Canadian Mike and Manu Simon

have all returned to their work places, so it's left us

kinda bare. Both  our new place,  and our old

joint are doing OK though. The rain has been

threatening once more, but overall it has been as

hot as 'ell.

Thai visa party time once more on 14th June, but

as it is sponsered by Isaan Lawyers, this time and

not Farang Connection, it will be a members only

do. Of course the F.C. 1 will be open for business

 as usual.

I might just add, for the sake of Jersey Mike, and

all the other Scousers out there, looks very much

like third time lucky for my boys. But you can never

tell in footie. Still Benitez was 'appy for 94 minutes.

More news when we secure our berth in the finals,

might even have extra if we beat the 'Devils' at the

weekend.

Anyway TaTa fer nows

News Flash

Sorry about ther news delay, but I haven't been

feeling myself lately. More news to come soon.

NEWS 25th March

IT RAINED, IT RAINED IT RAINED

BBBBYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEE

News 14th March 2008

Well, what a turn up for the books, although the Long Range Weather report did predict

it. From the coolness of early March (10-15 at night, 20-25 in the day), through the

very agreeable climate of the second week( around 20 at night and 30 in the day),

we have now been hit with 30+ at night and 40+ during the day. And so humid.

It's like wading though a giant pot of my famous Goulasch, although I can't actually

recall doing so.  Mind you, there are a number of things I can't actually recall doing,

so anythings possible. No pics I'm afraid this week. Far too busy running between

establishments. Got my weight down to 38 kg's now. Bloody 'ell I wus born heavier

than that.

Only other snippets of news is that Canadian Mike is back for one of his quarterly

visits. Oh yes, I nearly forgot. Heard through the grapevine that John of Geordie fame

was seriously molested and beaten up by a set of steps, during one of his evening strolls.

All two of them. Apparantly though, it does look like he tumbled down the Eiffel Tower.

Anyway, gotta go for a shower. See yus

    TVVTB

News 7th March 2008

OK, we're up & running in both places now. Here is what it looks like

Hope y'all like it. But before the transition, it just had to happen. Our first sleeper for

a long while. Ladies and Gentlemen, I present

Well, that just about wraps it up for another week. See some of you soon, in

News 27th February 2008

No news for two weeks, but this time on purpose. I wanted to wait to see what happens.

Well, the situation is this;

The Farang Connection will stay open as a Restaurant, but not selling booze.

Instead we have taken the option of the building across the way from us that used to

house Brad's Diner. Here we will have the Farang Food Shop, Libary, Bakery &

 Internet cafe,

as well as a bar area for the boozers of our comunity. It will be a no-frills

establishment, serving beer and spirits at low prices. ( if it is a success, I might

even put chairs and tables in) That is a joke by the way, but the decor will not

be quite as lavish as the original F.C. Eventually we will be doing rooms over

there as well, but of course that is a thing of the future.

We hope everyone will continue to enjoy our hospitality the same as always.

Just a couple of things to straighten out as well, now we are here.

The Farang Connection has never, or never will supply ladies of the night for

it's customers. This is a nasty rumour put around by our unwelcome guests,

knockers and maybe even opposition. If some of you can recall the last Thai

Visa party held by us, you may remember we were raided by a dozen or so

Bangkok vice cops, who had received a phone call saying the party was to

promote our new line of business. Total hog-wash.

A similar thing happened last Sunday on the 'no-beer' day, we were visited

by the police who had a phone call to say we were selling alchohol in violation

with the law of the day. But all they found were my locals drinking tea and

coffee and all the rest with soft drinks.

Last, but not by no means least is the property on our web-site that was going for a

song, well we have put the price back up to 8,500,000 after hearing development

plans for that area. We were actually selling the whole caboosh for 4,000,000, although we

were willing to accept 3,500,000 for it,

less than the actual land was worth. Still, any of you lot that were waiting for the

price to come down even more.......................Som num naa.

With that I will sign off once more, and see some of you at our new establishment.

BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBYYYYYEEE

News 13th February 2008

I suppose this news is like a London bus, you don't see one for an hour, then

three come along together. Anyway as promised, a few pics to  show you all

is well.

Firstly, Surin had a visit from Common Interest Thailand, a help group located

in Chang Mai. Seen here are Ryan, Lek & Ying.

Then we had the French couple, Alaine & Claire, who rented two bikes from us

for a fortnight and set off to tour Isaan. Here they are pictured at some stage of

their journey.

They duly arrived back 14 days later, saddle sore but safe and sound.

Congratulations to them.

Last, but definately not least are the two Bristol lads, who decided they should

drink me out of English cider in a couple of days.

Little did they know, we stock Strongbow,Natch,Old English, Blackthorn,

Bulmers Original and Gaymers. Now all we have left is a couple of bottles

of Gaymers. Five cases they managed to get through.

Congratulations to my mate Frankie Baby aka Kurgen, aka Tony from

Patters on his forthcoming bout of wedlock. Can't make it myself, but I'm

sure Yorky will represent Surin quite admirably.

Actually, in this neck of the woods we have already had about 20 Farang

wedding this year already, with another due this weekend.

Any way, bye for another spell

                                                               SLIM aka Fatty

News 9th February 2008

First, I must apologise for the lack of news being broadcast from deep inside the boundries of Isaan. Of course, now Geordie John is finally here, I do not get daily reminders. But that's another story.

Well, we're still here, struggling on as usual. Problem is we have cut down dramatically on staff, and now have twice or three times the customers as normal. The last few weeks we have been packed nearly every day. I can't even get on my own computers most of the time. Not that I get a chance to get upstairs much, I man the till most of the time.  Still, I promise you lot out there in civilisation a few pics next week ( or next month)or even next year!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, till you hear from me again

Weekly news Thusday 17th January 2008

Well, I'm actually on time this week. What happened ? Less of the nectar from

Heaven I summise. (billshot)

First item on the agenda is the Elephant festival. This year it will be on the

14th,15th & 16th November. I have pre-booked 40 rooms at the Majestic, and

if any one thinks I am jumping the gun a bit, they were nearly the last rooms

available. Last year I booked in April and could only get 12 rooms. Go to

Elephant festival 2008 for more info.

Well were expecting Geordie John and Canadian Mike back soon

( Henry, the missing member of the "How stupid can I have my hair brigade"

has just left) See pictures in past news for proof. Canadian Keith was on the prowl

last week as well, but has snuck off to Vietnam.

New on the Menu:

For the Germans we now do Curry Wuerst,

and for lovers of English food, we now do genuine Chicken Tikka Masala with

Pilau rice and Nam bread. Also on the menu are:

Chicken Phall

Chicken Vindaloo

Chicken Madras

Prawn Madras

Greek salad with Feta cheese, peppers and Pitta bread.

Blimey, you'll think you're back in UK. So bye for another session

Yours lovingly Martin AKA BFG

Weekly( or fortnightly) news 9th January 2008

My apologies for being so slack, but I was born like it. Here at last is the latest news,

blues and gossip from the Farang Connection.

New Years Eve was a total disaster, hence no pictures. I put on a great free food

spread, but apart from our local bunch, about six people came, ate thier fill,

and left after one beer. In fact by 22.30 the pub was empty, so we closed

and I sat there and saw the new year in on my own ( well not exactly on my own)

On the good news front, we are not changing in any way. Business will go

on as normal, as the problem has been resolved. In fact there was no real problem.

On a more serious side, our big house that has been up for sale since our split,

has attracted plenty of interest, but no firm offers. Even though it was on sale

at first for 8,750,000 and we dropped it down a couple of million

( and us fools turned down an offer of 8,000,000 a year and a half ago)

we are now going to accept any reasonable offer, as long as it covers

our costs. For those who do not know the property, look in Real Estate

and it is the first house.

But I do want sensible offers. The land in that area is rocketing and

although we have been told that the land and house will be worth

twice what we are asking in a couple of years, we must sell, so

me and Nee can go our seperate ways.

Any one wishing to view please contact me on  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

Another snippet of good news is that custom has perked up in the last week,

and although we are considerably down on takings for the first  8 days of

January last year, things are finally looking up. Lets hope this year will

be an annus bleedingfantasticus.

Bye to all of you from  Martin and the staff at the F.C.  and if you can't come and

see us, just e-mail me for my bank account number. bbbyyyeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Weekly News 29th December

Well Xmas has passed, sorry no pictures. Cock-up on the David Bailey front. Might have some for our New Year Party though. About 60 turned up for dinner this year. Most just ate and left although a couple of tables made a day of it.

Free buffett on New Years Eve for those in the area.

Contary to Stickmans article from October last year (2007) we are not closed (although he did mean thge FC on Nana, but it was very ambiguous) and will be very unlikely to close.

Well, we wish all of you the very best. See you in the New Year.

Martin, Sunee & all the staff at the Farang

Connection would like to wish all our customers,

non-customers, readers, anti-FC twats, and all the

people that hope come to see us, a very merry

Christmas and a happy and prosperous New Year.

News 19th November 2007
It's over. It's finished. Gone for another year. Things have started getting back to normal.
It was like this or fuller, for most of the time since we opened at 05.00 am on Friday morning.

In actual fact, when it was really packed, upstairs and down, I didn't have the time to take pictures.
Here are some shots of the festival, starting outside the F.C.

Joanne from Glasgow,Kate from Sydney, Gemma from Manchester & Jodie from Leicester

And Erin,Jennifer,Maria, Andrew, Lai & Mani

And so the girls don't get jealous, here's something for them as well.

And last but not least three loverly ladies from England

Well it was a hard three days. Many thanks to my staff who did a wonderful job yet again. Numbers were down from last year, and also the takings were way down as well. But such is life, so they say.
So goodbye for another week. See you'all soon.
Best wishes and kisses to the grils.

Business is really picking up. Very busy weekend and yesterday was packed all day. I guess the seasons just about ready to kick off. Apart from that, not a lot has changed. Weathers still hot and sticky. When it rains, IT RAINS. Been going out a lot more lately as well. Found out that Surin is one hell of a place to live in. Everything the same, no change. Many thanks to all the people who have wrote to me., to give me guidence in my hour of need.Things are livening up a tad. Had a great week-end last week (so they tell me)No change with the web-site, still can't post pictures, although the guy in questions house magically appeared on my site. With pictures of course. He still won't e-mail though. I can't understand why these bloody computer freaks do things that only they understand. I now have a backlog of 12 houses and land for sale and rent that I can't post.Plus about 30 pics of recent visitors. If you read this Pat, at least have the decency to e-mail me, and tell me what the hell is going on.I have enough problems as it is. Well that's it then for another week. See you'all next week.

7th September

Still here. Not gone anywhere, although the sad news is that me and Mrs Fat Git are no longer together. We are now just business partners.

If anyone out there is interested,  the large house on the Prasat road is now going for a song. Any offers or inquiries welcome.

Sorry about the last few weeks, but my Web-master has left the country and I could not up load pictures to the site.  Still can't but  now I can write.

The party went down well, in fact I am still suffering. About half of the registered crew did not turn up though. Had to drink it all myself.  Took me best part of a week.

Hope to have some pics for you soon, but until then

News week ending 7th August.

Blimey, we've had some storms this week. Surin has been saturated, while the rest of Isaan is complaining about a drought. Never please some people. On the customer front, we have been very quiet, following on from a record week last week.
Who's new?
Thomas from Gothenburg/Malaysia

with his lovely family

and genuine Swedish Volvo.
Who's back?
